I am running the Bank Of American 2012 Chicago Marathon and want to help Secondhand Snoots Rescue at the same time.
About The Rescue
Secondhand Snoots Rescue is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue organization dedicated to animal rights, advocacy, rescue, and finding forever homes. We are committed to educating and involving the community about homeless, abandoned, special needs and abused animals as well as realizing the benefits of adopting an animal in need. A minimum of 50% of our time and resources are dedicated to rescue and rehoming special needs animals, including, but not limited to, deaf, blind, epileptic, tripod and seniors. As you can guess, many of these special needs animals are the hardest to place. Secondhand Snoots has done a tremendous job in helping provide a loving home for animals that otherwise likely would have had their trip to the animal control facility a one way trip. They are a fantastic organization that really can use your help.
About Me
This is just my 5th season running (not including my school days), and this will be my 4th Chicago Marathon and I have also completed 1 Chicago Half Marathon. This is after having brain surgery just 6 years ago. I have a brain malformation in which a significant portion of my brain, under tremendous pressure, was forced outside of my skull at the base where the spinal chord meets the brain. This caused tremendous headaches when I exerted myself. To this day, my neurosurgeon feels in an incredible amount of joy and pride when I give him a copy of my finisher’s picture for the race just completed. I cannot wait to give him my finisher’s picture for the 2012 Bank Of America Chicago Marathon! Going through those experiences and the surgery fills me with even more motivation to run this race every year! My personal best time is 5hrs 4min 47sec. My goal for this year is 4hrs 30min, which will be a pace that is over 1 minute per mile faster than my best time. I would like to challenge you to make a base donation now for the fundraiser, but also pledge to make an additional donation if I am able to hit or break my goal, or perhaps pledge an additional amount for each minute under my personal best time I am able to come in at. We will post updates on training this blog post, as well as on the ChipIn page. You can also check out real time tracking and results on race day, which is October 7th, 2012.
I thank you, and Secondhand Snoots Rescue thanks you for your support.

Just a little over 5 weeks to go til race day!!!
